Managing Your Vault
Once you're logged into Vaultwarden, your vault is your personal storage space for secure information. This includes logins, credit cards, secure notes, and identity details. Here's how to manage it all.
Adding a New Item
- From your Vault dashboard, click the +New button.
- Select the item type:
- Login
- Secure Note
- Card
- Identity
- Fill in the necessary fields (e.g., username, password, name, notes).
- (Optional) Use the Password Generator to create a strong password.
- Click Save.
You can add custom fields if you need extra info, like recovery codes or secondary emails.
Editing an Item
- From the Vault list, click on the item you want to edit.
- Click the Edit button.
- Make your changes.
- Click Save.
Deleting an Item
- Open the item you want to delete.
- Click the red trash bin icon or Delete button.
- Confirm deletion when prompted.
Deleted items are not recoverable unless your Vaultwarden admin has backups enabled.
Organizing Items
Folders
- Click Folders in the left sidebar.
- Click Add Folder.
- Enter a folder name and save.
- When editing or adding an item, assign it to a folder from the dropdown.
Favorite Items
- Click the ☆ icon on any item to mark it as a Favorite for quick access.
Searching Your Vault
Use the search bar at the top left to quickly find items by name, username, or URL.
Try It Out!
Practice by adding a test login, such as:
- Website: https://example.com
- Username: testuser@example.com
- Password: Use the built-in generator
You can delete it afterward!
